Want to Outshine Competitors?

Creating a search engine friendly and optimized title tags for the pages and posts of your web application can be viewed as a repulsive health regimen. You cannot follow it as it is too tough and tedious, yet you know for a healthy and quality life, you must do it. Similarly, the title tags are one of the most important factors when it comes to getting your ecommerce website that competitive leverage over the others in the business and increase the business opportunities available to you. However it is just too tedious and repulsive to do the same. SEOmoz, an SEO management platform recently confirmed and exhibited a direct relationship between title tag optimization of the website and a resulting increase in its rankings.

Unmistakably it is the title tags which are the primary texts that defines any of the web page. These are the key elements in all HTML documents and search engine spiders utilize the title tags as the primary key of identification to whatever content the web page contains.

If you wish to turn your ecommerce portal into a highly gainful affair, you need to optimize the title tags of the same. It is the title tags which appear on the various search engine result pages, and also has a place in the page views and tab of different browsers.

Today the online virtual market has grown to become really competitive and ruthless. Businesses and online merchants are leaving no stone unturned in order to capitalize upon the widespread, untapped online market. And title tag optimization is definitely a sure shot of improving your access to a number of online users and gain from the same.

The best ways to go about Title Tag Optimization –

The fundamental way of ensuring that the title tag is optimized to yield the best results is quite simple. Begin the title tag with the keyword which has had the maximum amount of searches, and end the title tag with your own company / brand name.

Please note – Use the exact keyword / key phrase which has had the most relevant and meaningful searches AND end the entire title tag in the matter of 70 characters only. (try and see if it gets less than that.)

The position or the rank a keyword or a key phrase has achieved depends on how much worthy does the search engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo etc. consider it and how many online users have explored through the same keyword. The keyword or key phrase may not necessarily be a popular title tag of the pages, it can be an anchor text, a body document or etc.

It is imperative for you to use the exact keyword or key phrase in the title tag because the search engine results available to your are for that particular keyword / key phrase and the same will loose its meaning and rankings from the search engine point of view, if you try to put different words here and there, in between the key phrases.

Thus if you have an ecommerce portal providing reading books, novels, and stationary material etc. and lets assume if the most searched keyword in your domain happens to be “online book store” than use exactly the same keyword in the title tag first and then add your brand name etc., instead of beginning with “best online book store” or “online old book store” etc. Hence an appropriate title would be “online book store | Brand Name.”

Also fight away from the temptation of putting of the brand name before the key word or key phrase. It asks the search engines to lay more emphasis on the brand name and give less importance to the key phrase. However if you wish to gain in the website world, and improve the search engine rankings, you must utilize the benefits of most searched key phrase, in order to lift up your brand name. If the keyword / phrase appears first, it will be more easily identified by the search engine crawlers and hence your brand name following the key phrase will appear prior than otherwise.

This way, even if the title tag gets too lengthy and crosses 70 characters, the worse that will happen is that the user will not be able to see a few characters of the brand name in the title tag and the same will appear truncated. However, the search engine results for the same title tags will anyway be optimized.
