What we do

PixelCrayons builds and migrates online stores on Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento and headless stacks. One senior team handles the build, the testing and the growth work after launch. When you move platform, every product, order and customer record moves with zero data loss. We work direct for brands and white-label for agencies.

  1. A store built to load fastLight page templates, size limits for images and scripts on each page, and Core Web Vitals measured at every release.
  2. Catalogue, search and merchandisingCategories built around how people shop, search that copes with typos, and product displays your team can run.
  3. A checkout and payments that work every timeFewer steps, the payment methods your market expects, and tax, shipping and fraud rules tested before launch.
Platform fit

Which platform suits
your store?

It depends on your products, team and margins, not on which platform we'd rather sell. Here's how they compare.

Shopify

The usual choice for brands selling direct that want to launch fast on a platform that is looked after for them.

  • Takes hosting, security and card-payment rules off your hands
  • A small team can run a serious store
  • Worth a second look at high volume on a standard plan
See Shopify development

WooCommerce

Fits teams already invested in WordPress who want full control of the setup.

  • Content and the shop live in one system
  • No platform fee on each order
  • Means looking after hosting, updates and plugins yourself
See WooCommerce development

Magento

Worth its complexity only for very large catalogues and B2B selling.

  • Built for catalogues of tens of thousands of products
  • B2B prices, order approvals and several stores from one setup
  • Costs more to host and needs more developer time
See Magento development

Headless

A custom front end on a commerce engine. It makes sense when the shop itself sets you apart and you have the team to keep it running.

  • Worth it when a theme can't deliver the store you need
  • Pays off at very high traffic or several front ends on one engine
  • Adds a second system, plus test and release setup, to run

What a store build
includes.

01

A store built to load fast

Buyers leave slow stores, so we build speed in from the start rather than adding it later. We keep templates light, set size limits for images and scripts on each page and measure Core Web Vitals at every release. A fast store turns more browsing into orders. Our Performance service helps stores that are already slow.

Every build
02

Catalogue, search and merchandising

We design categories around how people actually shop your range. On-site search copes with typos and words that mean the same thing. Your team can arrange products and offers without a developer. We plan the catalogue around what people search for, so the store and its SEO work together.

Every build
03

A checkout and payments that work every time

The checkout is where stores quietly lose money, so we work on it first. It has few steps, address lookup and the payment methods your market expects. Every error is handled clearly. We set up and test tax, shipping rules and fraud settings before launch, so your first customer doesn't find the problems.

Before launch
04

Migrations without data loss

A platform move is where products, order histories and rankings go missing, unless it is mapped first. Before anything switches, we list products, customers, orders and every web address that ever ranked. Nothing is turned off until its new home is checked. It's the method behind our Migrations service, used for stores.

When replatforming
05

Connected systems that agree with each other

We connect payments, ERP and stock systems, shipping and fulfilment, email and analytics. Then stock levels, orders and customer records match everywhere. When the connections are right, your team stops typing the same data twice and your reports stop disagreeing.

Every build
How it starts

From NDA to working software,
shown to you on a call.

01
Start

Brief and a call

We sign an NDA and talk through your store: platform, catalogue size, integrations and where orders are being lost today. There's no discovery fee.

02
Once the brief is complete

Itemised proposal

We confirm the date your proposal arrives. It lists what you get, such as the store, checkout, connections and a move plan. It says in what order, and for how much.

03
Your decision

You sign off

You confirm the scope, the payment and the access we need to your platform accounts. Nothing starts before this.

04
Typically 2 to 3 business days later

The team starts

Developers who know your platform set up the test sites and code in your accounts. Any move is mapped before a single record moves.

05
On the date in your proposal

First deliverable

Working software on a test site, shown to you on a call. It could be part of the store, a checkout or a practice move. The build then runs to launch in fixed blocks, each ending in a demo.

Inside Prism

Your engagement, week to week,
in one workspace.

Prism is the client workspace where your requests, approvals, tasks and weekly reviews live.

Where the engagement includes it, your build runs in a Prism workspace you log into: requests, approvals, the task list and the weekly review, beside the repository your team already owns.

  • 01

    Requests and approvals

One queue, beside the repository your team owns.

  • 02

    Owned tasks

Every task has one owner and a date.

  • 03

    Weekly review

Each decision recorded, with the expectation attached.

Al Majed for Oud: a fragrance house's whole catalogue, online in two languages.

Al Majed for Oud, a Saudi fragrance house, had outgrown its online store. Updating products was slow, and plans to move platform always stalled on the fear of losing data. We moved the full catalogue, order history and customer records with zero data loss. We also mapped every web address that had ever ranked. Then we ran eCommerce SEO and ads on one plan. Revenue grew 340% in seven months.

FleaSolve: moving a vet-grade brand off WooCommerce, onto Shopify.

A UK maker of vet-grade flea and tick treatment for pets needed its own shop to sell as well as its marketplace listings. It describes itself as the only UK producer. We moved its store from WooCommerce to a Shopify 2.0 build designed to earn trust.

The store review

What we look at first
when we review your store.

On the first call we go through the store you run today. We look at the platform, catalogue size, connected systems and where you lose orders. There is no fee for this. Each thing we look at feeds a line of the proposal.

  1. 01The checkoutThis is where stores quietly lose money, so we look at it first. We check the steps, address entry, the payment methods your market expects and how errors are handled. We check tax, shipping rules and fraud settings too.
  2. 02The connected systemsPayments, ERP and stock, shipping, email and analytics. We check that stock levels, orders and customer records match everywhere, and that your team isn't typing data twice.
  3. 03The catalogue and searchWe check that categories match how people shop your range and that search copes with typos and similar words. We also check your team can arrange products without a developer.
  4. 04Speed, page type by page typeThe weight of images and scripts on each key page type, and its Core Web Vitals. We build speed in from the start, not add it later.
  5. 05What a move would involveIf a platform move is possible, the list starts here. It covers products, customers, orders and every web address that ever ranked, each mapped before anything switches.

The review feeds the itemised proposal: what you get, in what order and for how much.

Questions

Frequently
asked.

It depends on your products, team and margins. Shopify suits most brands selling direct that want speed and a platform that is looked after for them. WooCommerce fits teams already on WordPress. Magento (Adobe Commerce) pays off only for very large catalogues and B2B selling. Headless suits stores where the shop itself sets you apart. We'll tell you when the cheaper option is right.

Yes. Before anything moves, we list products, customers, order history and every web address that has ranked. We map each one to its new home. Nothing is switched off until the move is checked against that map, and redirects go live with the launch. The case study on this page shows the method on a Gulf retailer's store.

It depends on catalogue size, connected systems and checkout rules. A simple store takes weeks, and moving several stores with an ERP link takes months. Once we have a complete brief, we confirm when your itemised proposal arrives. Eligible work can typically start two to three business days after scope, payment and access are confirmed.

Your materials, data and accounts remain yours. Agreed ownership rights in bespoke deliverables transfer under the engagement terms and applicable payment; third-party software and assets keep their licences. We do not withhold customer-owned data or accounts over a payment dispute. We hand over documents and logins as we go, not hold them back until the end.

A checkout bug costs sales every hour, so every release must pass our quality checks. These are automated tests plus manual checks across browsers and devices. We test checkout, payments, tax and shipping rules before you see the build. Any faults are fixed and tested again before the demo. Our QA & Testing service runs the same process on any store.

Yes. Much of our eCommerce development goes out under partner agencies' brands, including the commerce case on this page. You keep your tools and client calls, and our developers work behind the scenes. We don't approach the clients you introduce to us for direct business, through the work and for twelve months after the last assignment for that client ends. It's written into the agreement.

The range

What it costs,
at the direct rate.

Start here if you have not picked a platform. A selection sprint helps you decide, then we build the store on whichever platform fits. Once the platform is known, the Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento and Headless Commerce rows give the details.

  • One-offPlatform selection sprint$950–$3,750one-time
  • ProjectStore build$1,875–$18,750fixed quote, one-time
