More revenue from
the traffic you have.

Conversion rate optimisation built on evidence, not opinions about button colours. Session recordings, analysis of each step and surveys show where buyers hesitate, and why. Then we run tests where you have enough traffic, or make direct fixes where you don't.

What we do

PixelCrayons' CRO service turns the visitors you already have into more revenue. We choose changes from recordings, step analysis and surveys. A/B tests run where traffic allows a reliable result. Elsewhere, we fix what the evidence shows. Each test is reported as win, lose or unclear, tied to revenue. We work direct for brands and white-label for agencies.

  1. Research comes firstRecordings, step-by-step analysis, surveys and a senior expert review of your path to purchase.
  2. A ranked list of changes to tryEvery possible change written up with its evidence, likely gain and effort, then ranked where you can see it.
  3. Honest testsA/B tests only where traffic can give a reliable answer, reported as win, lose or unclear.

Every test, in writing

What you get
from our CRO work.

01

Research comes first

We watch session recordings and study each step to purchase. On-site surveys ask buyers what nearly stopped them. Then a senior analyst reviews your path to purchase against common problems. They check form length, price surprises, where reviews sit and how it works on a phone. Every idea we test starts from what your visitors really do, not a generic tips list.

First
02

A ranked list of changes to try

We write up every possible change with its evidence, likely gain and effort, then rank them. You see the whole list and why it's in that order. So testing follows a plan, not whoever argued loudest in the last meeting.

03

Honest tests

We run A/B tests only where your traffic can give a reliable answer (statistical significance) in a sensible time. We show the maths. Results are reported as win, lose or unclear. Losing tests show us where buyers surprise us. Pretending they won would spoil the list of what to try next.

Per test
04

Fixes based on evidence when tests can't run

Smaller sites deserve the truth. Below a certain level of traffic, an A/B test is no better than a coin toss. There, we still do the research. We fix the clearest problems it finds directly, and measure before and after. We don't pretend the result was a test.

Design, build and reporting in-house

Our own designers and developers build the winning versions. So no result gets lost in a handover. A monthly report links every test and fix to revenue.

How it starts

From research to test results,
step by step.

01
Start

Brief and access

We sign an NDA. You give us access to your analytics, so we can check your tracking.

02
Once the brief is complete

Audit and itemised proposal

We confirm the date your proposal arrives. It covers the analytics check and lists what you get each month: research, ideas to try, tests, fixes and reports.

03
Your decision

You sign off

You confirm the scope, the payment and the access we need. Nothing starts before this.

04
Typically 2 to 3 business days later

The work starts

We switch on recordings and step tracking, and agree today's revenue figure. Then the research begins: recordings, step analysis, surveys and an expert review.

05
Every month after

Test, learn and build on the results

Tests run where traffic allows, and fixes go live where it doesn't. Every result is reported as win, lose or unclear. Then we re-rank the list of changes to try.

Inside Prism

Your engagement, week to week,
in one workspace.

Prism is the client workspace where your requests, approvals, tasks and weekly reviews live.

Where the engagement includes it, marketing runs in a Prism workspace you log into: requests, approvals, tasks and the weekly review, with the cost of each channel beside the leads it produced.

How we report it, in Prism

The experiment ledger,
including the ones that lost.

What you receive in month one

Conversion work is reported as an experiment ledger with every verdict recorded. In the first month you receive the analytics audit showing where the funnel data can and cannot be trusted, the research notes from session recordings and user interviews, and the hypothesis backlog ranked by evidence. Each test entry records its sample, its duration and its result, whether that was a win, a loss or inconclusive.

  • 01Analytics audit: funnel events verified, gaps and double counting named
  • 02Research notes: recordings, heatmaps and interviews, summarised with evidence
  • 03Hypothesis backlog: ranked by evidence and effort, with the page each targets
  • 04Experiment ledger: sample, duration, verdict, and what shipped as a result
  • 05Weekly note in Prism: tests running, tests concluded, next tests queued

The services that work best
alongside CRO.

CRO gets more from every visitor your other channels bring in. Pair it with PPC, where a better conversion rate makes your ad budget go further, and web design, when a better page is the fix. Email marketing keeps the buyers a better site wins. For a practical starting point, use the conversion optimisation worksheet to record the evidence, the limits and the decision before choosing a test. Use the free Website Revenue Review to see the three things to fix first on one page of your site.

Test or fix

Test, fix or measure first:
how we handle each change.

Every change is handled one way, and you always know which. Mixing them up is how CRO reports stop telling the truth.

Questions

Frequently
asked.

No. A test with a guaranteed result isn't a test. And sales depend on your offer, prices and market as much as your site. What we promise in the contract is the work. We deliver the research and keep the ranked list up to date. We run tests properly, report them as win, lose or unclear, and build the winners.

Then we'll tell you before you pay for testing. Below a certain number of sales, an A/B test can run for months and tell you nothing. The research still works on smaller sites. We fix the clearest problems directly and measure before and after. The ranked list waits for when your traffic grows.

Four parts, run together. Session recordings show where visitors hesitate and leave. Step analysis shows which step loses the most people. On-site surveys ask buyers what almost stopped them. An expert review checks your path to purchase against common problems. Each idea to test says which part it came from.

As many as your traffic supports. That might be four tests at once on a busy store, or one carefully chosen test on a smaller site. We agree how often from your numbers at the start, and fixes go live alongside. You'll always know whether a change is a test or a fix, and why.

It depends on your traffic and tools. A smaller site might need research with direct fixes. A busy one might need a research and testing retainer. Tool subscriptions are quoted separately, never hidden in the fee. Once we have a complete brief, we confirm when your proposal arrives. The first conversion review is free.

Yes. Research, testing and building go out under partner agencies' brands, backed by an NDA. We don't approach the clients you introduce to us for direct business, through the work and for twelve months after the last assignment for that client ends. It's written into the agreement. We have served 500+ agencies.

Yes, as part of the same research-based process. Recordings, step analysis and surveys show where visitors hesitate on a landing page. The ranked list shows what to change. Where traffic allows, we test the change. Where it doesn't, we fix it directly and measure before and after. Our own designers and developers build the winning version.
