Al Majed for Oud:
a fragrance house's whole catalogue, online in two languages.

A leading Saudi fragrance and oud brand needed its store to sell the way a fragrance counter does: by scent, by occasion and by gift. We developed a large-scale online shopping platform, in Arabic and English, with scent-based navigation, offers, accounts and secure checkout.

About the client

Al Majed for Oud
Fragrance & Oud · E-commerce

Al Majed for Oud is a leading Saudi fragrance and oud brand. Its range runs from perfumes, oud and incense to perfume oils, home fragrances, accessories and gift sets.

Fragrance is chosen by scent, mood and occasion as much as by name, and the brand's customers shop in Arabic and in English, so the store had to guide discovery in both languages.

The challenge

What had to change

  • 01A large catalogue across perfumes, oud, incense, oils, home fragrance, accessories and gift sets.
  • 02Customers who shop by scent and occasion, not by product code.
  • 03Two languages, with right-to-left Arabic and left-to-right English treated as equals.
  • 04Offers and gifting seasons that drive much of the year's demand.
  • 05Checkout that has to be secure and offer the payment methods customers in the region expect.

How a customer finds a fragrance,
step by step.

The store is organised around the way fragrance is chosen in person: start with a scent or an occasion, narrow down, then buy with confidence.

Lessons

What other teams can take from this

Sell fragrance the way it is bought

People choose a scent before they choose a product. Navigation by scent turns a catalogue into a fragrance counter.

Bilingual means both directions

Arabic is not a translation layer on an English store. Layout, navigation and checkout have to read naturally right to left.

Give gifting its own front door

In fragrance, gift sets and seasonal offers drive demand. They deserve routes of their own, not a banner.
