Meta Ads

Meta Ads management:
ads that sell, measured honestly.

On Facebook and Instagram, the ad itself finds your buyers. So the account that tests the most ideas learns fastest. Our Meta Ads management tests new ads weekly. We give winners more budget and switch off losers. And we tell you plainly how iOS 14 changed tracking.

What we do

PixelCrayons' Meta Ads service runs your Facebook and Instagram ads, tests new ads every week and measures them against your revenue. We grow or stop each test based on results. Most budget goes on finding new buyers. Server-side tracking and holdout tests show what the ads really add. We work direct for brands and white-label for agencies.

  1. New ads tested every weekNew openings, formats and messages tested every week; losers switched off and winners given more budget.
  2. Finding new buyers first, retargeting kept in proportionAds to new audiences funded first, retargeting sized to need, with a limit on how often people see ads.
  3. Measurement after iOS 14Meta's Conversions API added next to the pixel, with Meta's figures checked against your analytics and revenue.
  • Creative testing logged, win or lose
  • New creative angles tested every week
  • Prospecting funded before retargeting
  • A limit on how often each person sees an ad
  • No return-on-ad-spend guarantees: nobody can keep them

Every month, in writing

What our Meta Ads management
covers each month.

01

New ads tested every week

Every week, new ideas go into the account: different openings, formats and messages, not five crops of the same banner. Every week we switch off the losers and give winners more budget. Every Meta account suffers when people tire of the same ads. A steady supply of new tests is the only way to stay ahead.

Weekly
02

Finding new buyers first, retargeting kept in proportion

Retargeting past visitors always looks great on paper. That's because it reaches people your other ads, or your brand, already brought in. We fund ads to new audiences, because that is where growth comes from. We size retargeting to the people who need one more reason to buy. We limit how often each person sees an ad, so it persuades rather than annoys. We set the budget split by results, not by what looks good in a report.

Ongoing
03

Measurement after iOS 14

Apple's App Tracking Transparency broke the old pixel. Meta now tracks for a shorter time, estimates some sales and misses people who opted out. We add the Conversions API next to the pixel, so your server fills the gaps the browser left. Then we check Meta's figures against your analytics and real revenue. If we doubt what retargeting adds, we test it with a holdout group, a set of people who see no ads.

Catalogue ads for commerce

For online stores, your product feed sells all day. Catalogue ads show the right products to new buyers and remind visitors what they left behind. We treat the feed's titles, images and stock levels as part of the ad. Our eCommerce development team builds it with us, so feed fixes really get made.

05

What happens after someone clicks

People arrive from Meta curious, not yet convinced. So our conversion team builds and tests the landing page to finish the job the ad started. The buyers your ads win then get your follow-up emails. That way the second sale doesn't need a second ad budget. Paid ads should feed customers into a system that keeps them.

How it starts

From tired ads to weekly tests,
step by step.

01
Start

Brief and access

We sign an NDA. Then we get access to your ad account, audiences, past ads and tracking setup.

02
Once the brief is complete

Audit and itemised proposal

We audit the account and confirm the date your proposal arrives. It lists the new account setup, the ad testing plan and tracking fixes, in what order and for how much.

03
Your decision

You sign off

You confirm the scope, the payment and the access we need. Nothing starts before this.

Typically 2 to 3 business days later

The work starts

We switch on server-side tracking and check it. We rebuild the ads for new buyers, set limits on how often people see ads and launch the first round of tests.

Testing every week

New ideas go in, losers come out and winners get more budget. Retargeting has to prove what it adds. You get a weekly report against revenue, not Meta's own scores.

Inside Prism

Your engagement, week to week,
in one workspace.

Prism is the client workspace where your requests, approvals, tasks and weekly reviews live.

Some engagements include Prism, our client workspace, and your proposal says whether yours does. Where it does, marketing runs in a workspace you log into: requests, approvals, tasks and the weekly review, with the cost of each channel beside the leads it produced.

How we report it, in Prism

Every ad test we run,
winners and losers.

What you receive in month one

Meta campaigns are reported as a test log you can read from the first entry to the last. In the first month you receive the pixel and conversions API check against a test purchase, the audience map showing who each ad set reaches and who is excluded, and the creative log listing every variant, its hypothesis and its verdict. Winners and losers both stay in the record.

  • 01Pixel and conversions API check: events matched to a test purchase
  • 02Audience map: reach, exclusions and overlap between ad sets
  • 03Creative log: each variant, the hypothesis it tested, the verdict
  • 04Weekly sheet in Prism: spend, purchases, cost per purchase, frequency
  • 05Landing page checklist: what the ad promises, what the page shows

Measured honestly

When Meta's numbers flatter:
what we check, and what we change.

Meta's own figures help us decide, but your revenue has the final say. Here is where the two disagree, and what we do about each.

What the account showsWhat we doWhy
Only the browser pixel is liveAdd the Conversions API next to it, live and checkedApp Tracking Transparency left gaps where opted-out users used to be. Server-side tracking recovers what browsers lost.
Meta reports sales it estimated rather than sawLabel them as estimates in every reportSince iOS 14, Meta estimates part of what it reports. It tracks for a shorter time and its data arrives later.
Platform figures and your analytics disagreeCheck the figure against your analytics and real revenueReporting runs weekly against your revenue, not against the platform's own scorecard.
Retargeting reports the best return in the accountSize it to people who need one more reason, limit how often they see ads, and test with a holdout group if in doubtIts numbers are partly borrowed from interest that other ads, search or your brand already created.
Ads to new buyers look expensive beside retargetingKeep funding ads to new audiences, because that is where growth comes fromSpend everything on retargeting and you run out of past visitors, with nothing bringing in new ones.

Our weekly ad tests run on top of this. New ideas go in, and losers stop when they miss limits agreed before launch. Every test is logged, win or lose.

Questions

Frequently
asked.

It's about how often, not how many. On Meta, the ad does the targeting. Meta finds buyers by watching who responds to which message. So one 'best' ad gives it nothing to learn from. We keep a steady supply of new ad ideas. Fresh tests go in weekly, and results decide which stay.

Yes, but differently. Apple's App Tracking Transparency removed much of the tracking of single people, so Meta now estimates part of what it reports. We run the Conversions API next to the pixel to recover what browsers lost. We check Meta's figures against your analytics and revenue, and label estimates as estimates. Your revenue has the final say.

Because retargeting's good numbers are partly borrowed. It reaches people your other ads, SEO and brand already brought in, then claims sales that were coming anyway. Spend everything there and you run out of past visitors, with nothing bringing in new ones. We fund ads to new buyers first and size retargeting to need. We limit how often people see ads, and test what retargeting adds with holdout groups.

If you sell more than a handful of products, almost certainly. Catalogue ads use your product feed to show the right items and remind visitors what they left behind. So the feed's titles, images, prices and stock levels become the ad. We build ours with our eCommerce development team, so feed problems get proper fixes.

No. Ad prices, how people respond to ads and demand are outside anyone's control. And since iOS 14, measuring return involves estimates. We commit to the work: checked server-side tracking, weekly tests, limits on how often people see ads and reports against your revenue. Meta bills media spend to you directly, and your ad account stays in your name.

Yes. We run paid social under partner agencies' brands. You keep your report templates and client calls, and our specialists test the ads. Client ad accounts stay in the client's name, under an NDA. We don't approach the clients you introduce to us for direct business, through the work and for twelve months after the last assignment for that client ends.
