Who does what

One contact runs your team,
with two companies behind it.

01

You deal with one contact and sign one proposal

You brief PixelCrayons once on what the team needs to do. We work out the roles and the mix of senior and junior engineers, and write one proposal. Then we stay your account owner throughout.

Every engagement
02

A remote engineering team that works in your tools

Our sibling company ValueCoders sources and delivers the engineers. They work in your tools and join your stand-ups. The team size changes each month as the work changes.

03

Interview before signing

You meet the proposed engineers yourself before you commit. If someone isn't the right fit, ask us to propose someone else.

Every hire
04

One team to call when something goes wrong

Progress updates, billing and problems all go through PixelCrayons' account team. That stays true whichever company is doing the work that week.

Every engagement
05

We still do the marketing and website work

You may also need a marketing site, a store front end or SEO. That stays PixelCrayons' own work, run by the same account team.

PixelCrayons
How it works

From your brief to a working team,
with one contact throughout.

01
Start

Brief and a call

We sign an NDA and you tell us your plans and what is missing. PixelCrayons then works out the roles and seniority the team needs.

02
Once the brief is complete

Proposal and interview

We confirm when your proposal will arrive. It names each role, its seniority and an itemised monthly rate. You interview every proposed engineer before anything is signed.

03
Your decision

You sign off

You confirm the scope, the payment and the access we need. Nothing starts before this.

04
Typically 2 to 3 business days later

The team starts

The engineers join your tools, stand-ups and plans. Progress updates, billing and problems go through PixelCrayons.

05
Every month

Scale either way

Add engineers when the work piles up, and reduce the team when it doesn't. PixelCrayons' account team stays your one contact throughout.

Inside Prism

Your engagement, week to week,
in one workspace.

Prism is the client workspace where your requests, approvals, tasks and weekly reviews live.

Some engagements include Prism, our client workspace, and your proposal says whether yours does. Where it does, your build runs in a workspace you log into: requests, approvals, the task list and the weekly review, beside the repository your team already owns.

  • 01

    Requests and approvals

One queue, beside the repository your team owns.

  • 02

    Owned tasks

Every task has one owner and a date.

  • 03

    Weekly review

Each decision recorded, with the expectation attached.

How we report it, in Prism

The delivery record,
you can read without a stand-up.

What you receive in month one

Development is reported as artefacts in your own tools, not a status call. In the first month you receive the technical audit of the current codebase, the delivery plan broken into reviewed increments with acceptance criteria, and the environment map showing where code runs and who can deploy it. The weekly review in Prism lists what merged, what was reviewed, and what is blocked and by whom.

  • 01Technical audit: the current codebase, its risks, and the order of fixes
  • 02Delivery plan: increments with acceptance criteria and review owners
  • 03Environment map: development, staging and production, and who deploys
  • 04Weekly review in Prism: merged, in review, blocked, and the reason for each block
  • 05Definition of done: tests, review, accessibility and performance checks per increment

The team works on your plans, but you decide who is in it and how large it is. These are the points where you make those decisions.

  1. 01Tell us what work is missingYou describe your plans and what is missing. We work out the roles and the seniority the work needs.
  2. 02Read who does whatThe proposal names each role, its seniority and an itemised monthly rate. It states plainly what PixelCrayons does and what ValueCoders does.
  3. 03Interview every engineerYou meet each proposed engineer on a video call before anything is signed. If someone is not the right fit, we propose again.
  4. 04Run it in your toolsThe team works in your tools and joins your stand-ups. Progress updates, billing and problems go through PixelCrayons' account team, whichever company does the work that week.
  5. 05Resize month by monthAdd engineers when the work piles up and reduce the team when it does not. You keep the same one contact throughout.

Need one named role rather than a mixed team? The matching /hire page may be the simpler place to start.

Questions

Frequently
asked.

Our sister company ValueCoders sources and delivers them; across our group, that work is theirs. PixelCrayons is your point of contact. We scope the team, write the single proposal and stay your account owner throughout. We also do any website, store or marketing work you need alongside it. ValueCoders is named plainly here and throughout delivery, never hidden behind our name.

Yes, it's a set step in the process. Once we propose engineers, you meet each one on a video call before anything is signed. If someone doesn't fit, ask us to propose a replacement.

The /hire pages fill one named role (a React developer, a QA engineer) from PixelCrayons' own specialists. This page is for a larger remote engineering team, sourced through our sibling company ValueCoders. It is usually a mix of senior and junior engineers rather than one role. If you know the one role you need, the matching /hire page may be the simpler place to start.

One account team, for the whole relationship. The proposal names ValueCoders and its role, and so does every update. But problems, billing and progress reports all go through the PixelCrayons account team you signed with.

There's no flat rate card. The roles, their seniority and the team size set the cost. Every proposal is priced against your brief. It lists exactly what's included and which company delivers each part. Once we have a complete brief, we confirm when your proposal arrives.

Brief the team you need,
we'll name who does what.

A scoped, itemised proposal naming PixelCrayons' role as your point of contact and ValueCoders' role as the engineering team, under one account owner throughout.
