Migrate to Shopify
without losing an order.

We list and map every product, customer, order and ranking page before anything moves. Redirects go live with the launch. Your old store stays live until we've checked the new one record by record. We move stores from Magento, WooCommerce, BigCommerce or a custom build.

Every order counted before cutover · Nothing switched off until verified

What we do

PixelCrayons migrates stores to Shopify from Magento, WooCommerce, BigCommerce or a custom build with zero data loss. We map every product, variant, customer, order and ranking page to Shopify. Redirects go live at the switch. The old platform stays on until the new store is checked. We work directly for brands, and white-label (under your brand) for agencies.

  1. A full pre-migration audit, before anything movesEvery product, customer, order and ranking URL inventoried and mapped before anything moves.
  2. The migration itself, mapped by source platformEach platform's data mapped to Shopify's structure on its own terms, without a generic import.
  3. A redirect map treated as its own deliverableEvery historic URL gets a one-to-one redirect, tested on staging and monitored once live.

In every migration

What a Shopify migration
actually includes.

01

A full pre-migration audit, before anything moves

First we list every product and variant, every customer, every past order and every page that has ever ranked. Each one is mapped to its place on Shopify. This list is what we're held to. You can only check for zero data loss if you know exactly what existed before the move. So we count first, then check the new store against that count, record by record.

First
02

The migration itself, mapped by source platform

Each platform stores data differently. Magento has its own catalogue and product attribute structure. WooCommerce stores data the WordPress way. BigCommerce data comes out through its API exports. A custom-built store may have no export tools at all. We map each one to Shopify's product, custom field (metafield) and customer structure on its own terms. We don't run a generic import script twice.

By source
03

A redirect map treated as its own deliverable

Before the switch, every old page address gets its own redirect to the matching Shopify page. That covers collection pages, product pages, blog posts and any landing page still ranking for something useful. We don't send everything to the homepage after the fact. We build the map, test it on a test store and monitor it once live. A move that loses its search rankings hasn't solved the revenue problem. It has just moved it.

Before cutover
04

A switch-over planned for zero downtime

We rehearse the full move on a Shopify test store before it runs for real. We import products, turn on redirects, reconnect apps and integrations, and place test orders through checkout. We also walk through the unusual cases. The rehearsal gives us the switch-over plan. It sets when the domain changes over, when the final data sync runs and who checks what. So the real switch repeats something that already worked once.

Rehearsed first
05

Verification before the old platform goes dark

We don't switch off the old platform the moment Shopify goes live. We check order, customer and product counts against the list made before the move. We test checkout with real payment methods and shipping rules. The old store stays reachable but hidden from search until every check has passed. The checks must then keep passing for a settling period.

Before decommission
06

Why Shopify, and when it isn't right

Most moves to Shopify are after three things. First, the platform handles hosting, uptime and card-payment compliance (PCI) instead of your team. Second, there are enough apps that most integrations are a connection rather than a build. Third, the checkout works at scale. That trade suits many stores, but not all. Magento still fits complex B2B pricing. WooCommerce still fits stores built around content with close WordPress ties. If that's you, we'll say so. This service is for when the answer is Shopify.

How it starts

From NDA to a
rehearsed switch-over.

01
Start

Brief and access

We sign an NDA and get view-only access to your current store, whatever it runs on. Then we start listing products, customers, orders and page addresses.

02
Once the brief is complete

Audit and itemised proposal

We confirm the date your migration plan arrives. It lists the scope, the order of work, redirects and how we'd roll back, with prices. It also says honestly whether Shopify is right for you.

03
Your decision

You sign off

You confirm the scope, the payment and the access we need. Nothing starts before this.

04
Typically 2 to 3 business days later

The team starts

We set up a Shopify test store in your accounts. The list of page addresses becomes a draft redirect map. The first data moves in so we can check it.

05
On the date in your proposal

First deliverable

We rehearse the full move on the test store with real product data and a tested checkout. Then we show you on a call. We then book the real switch based on what the rehearsal showed.

Prism is the client workspace where your requests, approvals, tasks and weekly reviews live.

How we report it, in Prism

The cutover plan,
with nothing switched off early.

What you receive in month one

A migration is reported as an inventory and a cutover plan you approve before anything moves. In the first month you receive the full inventory of URLs, records and integrations, the redirect map matching every old address to its destination, and the data reconciliation plan naming how record counts will be checked on both sides. The old platform stays live until each check passes.

  • 01Inventory: URLs, product and customer records, integrations, and their owners
  • 02Redirect map: every old address matched to its destination and tested
  • 03Data reconciliation plan: counts and spot checks on both platforms
  • 04Cutover runbook: the order of steps, the checks between them, the rollback
  • 05Post-move watch: crawl errors, order flow and search visibility, daily at first

Worried about the search side of the move?

A Shopify move affects SEO too. Collection and product page addresses change, and only a redirect map stops your rankings slowly draining away. Our technical SEO service handles that side in depth, and it runs on the same plan as the move.

By source platform

What your move depends on,
platform by platform.

The standard is the same from every platform: a full list, a redirect map, a rehearsal and final checks. The mapping work differs. It decides how long the audit takes, and whether we advise the move at all.

Coming fromWhat the mapping depends onWhat it means for your plan
MagentoIts catalogue, product attributes and any multi-store setup, mapped onto Shopify's product structureA large B2B store with custom pricing rules takes months. That pricing sometimes still fits Magento better.
WooCommerceSeparating store data cleanly from the WordPress theme and plugins around itA smaller catalogue can move in weeks. A content-heavy store closely tied to WordPress is sometimes better staying put.
BigCommerceIts API exports, mapped to Shopify's product, custom field and customer structureMapped on its own terms, rather than through a generic import script run twice.
A custom-built storeWriting down everything the store does first, because there are usually no export toolsThe audit takes longer with no vendor migration guide to lean on. The standard does not change.
Any sourceEvery product, variant, customer, order and ranking page counted before anything movesWe check Shopify against that count, record by record, before the old store goes offline.

The priced plan says honestly whether Shopify is the right platform for you. If it isn't, you hear that before you commit.

Questions

Frequently
asked.

Not if the redirect map is built before the switch. Every page that ranks gets mapped to its Shopify page and tested before the switch. We don't wait for traffic to drop and then patch it. Some short-term ups and downs are normal after any platform change, and we say so upfront.

It depends on catalogue size, order history and how many integrations the current platform holds together. Once we have a complete brief, we confirm when your proposal arrives. A smaller WooCommerce catalogue can move in weeks. A large Magento B2B store with custom pricing rules takes months. Your plan tells you which applies to you.

It moves with everything else, and we check it. We count past orders before the move, move them with products and customers, and check the count again in Shopify. The old platform stays reachable but hidden from search until every check has passed.

Yes. Custom-built stores are often harder to move. They tend to have no export tools and the most unwritten business rules, so the audit takes longer. The standard stays the same. We write down everything the store does and list every record. Nothing is switched off until we've checked that Shopify does the same job.

Yes, and each moves differently. With Magento, the key is mapping its catalogue, product attributes and any multi-store setup onto Shopify's structure. With WooCommerce, the key is separating store data from the WordPress theme and plugins. Both get the same full list, redirect map and final checks.

We'll tell you if it isn't. Shopify suits most brands that sell direct and most mid-sized catalogues. Hosting, uptime and card-payment compliance come with the platform, and apps cover most integrations. Complex B2B pricing can still fit Magento better. A content-heavy store tied into WordPress may be better staying on WooCommerce.

Yes. We work as a white-label partner for agencies, so the migration runs under your brand to the same standard. You get a full list of everything before the move and a redirect map built before the switch. The switch is rehearsed, and we run final checks before the old store goes offline. Once we have a complete brief, we confirm when your proposal arrives.
