Website redesign and talent search · MENA

The Fridge:
a stage-ready website with a searchable roster of artists.

An entertainment company that has produced concerts, festivals and cultural programmes across the region since 2007 needed a website as bold as its events, and a way for clients to find the right artist fast. We redesigned and rebuilt it, with Elasticsearch behind the talent search.

About the client

The Fridge
Live Entertainment · Events & Talent

The Fridge Entertainment has brought concerts, festivals, cultural programming and live events to life across the Middle East and North Africa since 2007.

Its work runs from live entertainment and creative consultancy to event design and production, cultural programming and talent booking, so its website has to serve corporate clients, promoters and audiences at once.

The challenge

What had to change

  • 01The old website no longer matched the energy of the company's events.
  • 02Content and images were hard for the team to update without help.
  • 03Clients needed to search the roster and see real information about each artist.
  • 04The internal team needed the same search to shortlist the right artist for each client request.
  • 05Visitors had to be able to explore every service without registering or creating a profile.
What we delivered

The solution

A contemporary redesign

Challenge

The site looked dated next to the events it was selling.

Solution

A new design built on full-bleed event photography, bold type and a clear route to each line of business.

Result

A website that looks like the company it represents.

Content the team runs

Challenge

Updating pages and images depended on outside help.

Solution

A content-management back end for pages, images and artist profiles, organised the way the team works.

Result

The team keeps the site current itself.

Talent search on Elasticsearch

Challenge

Finding the right artist meant scrolling or asking.

Solution

Elasticsearch behind the talent search, so results come back fast and relevant, with real profile information for each artist.

Result

Clients find the right artist in a few searches.

One search, two audiences

Challenge

Staff matched artists to client requests by hand.

Solution

The same search gives the internal team a quick way to shortlist artists against a client's brief.

Result

Faster, better-matched proposals to clients.

Open browsing

Challenge

A sign-up wall would turn casual visitors away.

Solution

Every service can be explored, and an enquiry started, without registering.

Result

Nothing stands between a visitor and an enquiry.

The moments
we engineered

Pieces of the brief, caught mid-use on the live site.

The talent search page: icons for band, instrumentalist, DJ, duo, roaming, singer and strings, filters for artist type, speciality and genre, a name search and artist profile cards
Talent search

The right artist in a few searches

Artist categories, filters by type, speciality and genre, and a search by name, with Elasticsearch returning results fast. The same page helps the team shortlist artists for a client's brief.

Project outcomes

The results

A contemporary website that matches the scale of the company's events

A searchable roster of artists, powered by Elasticsearch

A faster way for the internal team to match artists to client requests

Pages, images and artist profiles the team updates itself

Lessons

What other teams can take from this

Build search for both sides of the counter

The search clients use to browse a roster is the same tool staff need to answer a brief. Designing it once for both doubles its value.

Never put a wall in front of browsing

For a services business, every page a visitor can explore without signing up is a page that can start an enquiry.

An events site should feel like an event

Full-bleed photography and confident type do more selling than any paragraph about atmosphere.
