Real Mad Honey:
a store that answers every question before the cart.
A rare honey, harvested by hand from cliff hives in the Himalayas and the Black Sea mountains, is a product people research before they buy. We built Real Mad Honey a modern, conversion-led store that puts the proof on the way to checkout: sourcing, batch lab reports and other customers' reviews.

Real Mad Honey
Specialty Food · Direct-to-Consumer
Real Mad Honey sells mad honey, a rare wild honey harvested by hand in the Himalayas and the Black Sea mountains. The business began in the Netherlands in 2020, works from Amsterdam and Fort Worth, Texas, and sells direct to customers in many countries.
Few shoppers have tried it before. They want to know where the honey comes from, whether their batch was tested and how to serve it, so the store had to answer those questions as clearly as it sells.
What had to change
- 01An unfamiliar product had to be explained before it could be sold.
- 02Cautious buyers needed proof they could check: origin, batch testing and other customers' experience.
- 03Several jar sizes, regional honeys and an add-on had to be easy to compare.
- 04Customers in many countries needed the right prices and delivery for where they live.
- 05Education and shopping had to work as one journey, on desktop and on a phone.
The solution
Proof in the buy box
First-time buyers look for reasons to trust a product they have never tried.
Reviews, third-party verification and the choice of size sit together beside the product, where the decision is made.
The questions that stall a purchase are answered on the product page.
Lab reports by order number
A line saying 'lab tested' means little to a careful buyer.
A lab-report page where customers enter their order number to find the dated report for their own batch and download it.
Testing is something a customer can check, not just read about.
A clear choice of sizes
Five jar sizes and an add-on spoon could easily become a cluttered choice.
Each size shows its price per gram and its saving, the most bought and best-value sizes are labelled, and the spoon is offered beside them.
Customers compare value at a glance and choose the size that suits them.
Education that leads to the store
The product's case rests on its origin and on responsible serving guidance.
Sections on what mad honey is, where it comes from, how to use it and why to trust the brand, each with a route back to the product.
Learning and buying sit on one path.
Shopping from anywhere
One price list does not fit customers spread across many countries.
A country choice that shows the right prices and delivery for each visitor, with the language and region selector in the header.
International customers see a store set up for them.
A short, secure checkout
A considered purchase can still be lost at the last step.
A direct route from the product page through the cart to a secure checkout, responsive on every screen size.
Few steps between deciding and paying.

The moments
we engineered
Pieces of the brief, caught mid-use on the live site.

Where the honey comes from, on a map
The sourcing page shows the Nepalese regions where the honey is harvested and tells the story of the hunters behind it, so origin is shown, not just claimed.

The craft is in the small things: spacing, type, the weight of a button.

What other teams can take from this
Put the proof where the doubt is
For an unfamiliar product, hesitation happens in the buy box. Reviews and verification belong there, not on a page the buyer has to go looking for.
Make claims checkable
A report a customer finds with their own order number earns more trust than any sentence about quality.
Show value, not just price
Price per gram and a labelled best-value size let customers choose a larger jar on their own terms.
